Man may have dogs as a best friend but us girls have shoes!!!
Shoes don’t need feeding, walking or vaccinating. All they need is buying, wearing and loving!
Never underestimate the power of a good pair of shoes – they’ll jazz up a tired outfit, complete a perfect look, they’ll make you feel a million dollars (if you get the right ones) and they’ll make your legs look fantastic. And for any man that claims he wouldn’t notice – I bet he’d notice the form a decent pair of heels gives a girls legs.

There’s no doubt about it, we’ve had a few lovely days and if you still wrap up you can actually convince yourself summer is on the way. In fact, I even heard someone say yesterday they had just had their first barbecue of the year. The daffodils are standing strong, the crocuses are all heads up and the sale of sunglasses have gone skyward.
There have already been various emails going round the family with initial plans for summer parties so I am looking forward to the socialising but more than that, and much to the dismay of my husband, its an excuse to dress my daughters up in pretty girls dresses which are always more floral and more pretty in the summer months.

I’m so excited! I was never in favour of finding out the sex of a baby before they were born as I always thought the build up was lovely but my daughter is of the new generation and likes to be prepared for everything so she had her scan and reports we are to be getting a new baby grandson called Ronnie.
I’ve been surprised at myself in how this pleases me – we now call the bump Ronnie as opposed to it and have been preparing a blue room and buying blue boys clothes.

There is, they say, a tie for every occassion. Job interviews, weddings, parties, a day at the office, meeting the prospective in laws, funerals – whatever the occassion, choosing the right tie, and often opting for designer ties, is essential.
To illustrate my point: you have been invited to attend your neice’s wedding. It promises to be a happy, joyous occassion but at the same time there is a sobering and serious ceremony for the couple to go through. This probably isn’t the occassion to wear your favourite cartoon character tie, neither is a job interview or a funeral. However, were you attending a casual party you might well want to give this type of tie an airing.

There’s one thing that sticks in my mind about my old dad. When I was little and we had any occassion where we were meant to dress up, he was always the best dressed man at the venue. He always went to a real effort to show class and good breeding. It was the little things I noticed that made all the difference – the things that others didn’t even try. His shoes were always highly polished, his tie always matched his handkerchief and he always wore cufflinks.
Cufflinks have recently enjoyed a rise in the fashion stakes but the true gentleman knows they never really left. This is one small way where a man can show he has self respect and class and it is something other people notice. When a man reaches out to shake your hand, his shirt cuffs peep from beneath his suit sleeve and his cufflinks are glinting, you know this man is worthy of your respect.

Well I’ve jsut come back from an idyllic honeymoon on Denis Island in the Seychelles where shoes weren’t even required for the restaurant – in fact, I spent nearly two weeks without a pair of shoes on and while I loved it – it’s great to be back in my heels again – I am such a sucker for a gorgeous pair of heels (probably because I’m just a shade over five foot!).

There’s something very British about summer evenings spent soaking up the last of the suns rays outside the country pub, meeting up with friends, chatting and laughing until the wee hours. It’s a pasttime we enjoy no matter what age, it’s a way of getting outdoors and really making the most of the weather before the British dreariness sets in again.
With this in mind, I love these comfy looking suede moccassins available from Mulberry:

Christina Aguilera has been a style icon ever since she first came bouncing into the charts as a fresh faced teeny bopper. Her style has developed over the years to the grown up version we see today who can carry off mind blowing red carpet designs just as easily and fluidly as she can carry off this comfy casual look:

If you fancy emulating a little of Christina’s style, opt for these leopard print high heeled sling backs from Jimmy Choos – well worth their £425:
